Music blasted from a dorm room even though the door was shut. People walked by, shooting glares at the red peep hole. The occasional person banged on the door, but nobody would answer, as though they purposely had the music up to annoy everyone. However, on the inside a blonde wielded her weapon of choice, using it to portray what she was visualizing onto the giant canvas beneath her. She stood over it, flinging the paintbrush in chaotic precision. A distorted face could be seen on the canvas, it's deep, black eyes haunting. Her golden eyes studied the paint, then bending over she smeared a streak of black on the persons cheek. Smiling triumphantly, she took a step back, setting the paintbrush on her nightstand, not caring that the paint would drip onto the plain white. "Perfect," she simply stated, stepping towards her stereo and clicking the off button.
She could tell there was a sigh of relief outside her door, which made her roll her eyes. She truly couldn't tell it was up that loud, her being lost in the art made her lose track of time, and not be able to hear anything else besides the music. Which is how she liked it. "What time is--fuck" the girl cursed, seeing her clock hanging on the wall. It was 2:10 in the afternoon, and her government class started in five minutes.
Not bothering in washing off the black all over her hands, but quickly slipping off her apron she snatched up her room key, shoving it into her pocket. She slipped on some black TOMS, then darted for the door, determined on running to her class, nearly a half mile across campus, in five minutes. Yes, she had the endurance, but it was odd to see an artist sprinting down the hallway, no books or anything in hand. "Watch out! Move!" She shouted at a few students lolly-gagging in the hallways, maneuvering around them quickly.

Richard batted away at the wandering hands on her chest. Sarah was her name, his current interest, she ran her slim manicured fingers over the fabric of his gray shirt. As though she could hold him in place, but Richard easily evaded her and stood up. "I need to go to class." He told her, as she glared up at him in a pout. Richard rolled his eyes, she wouldn't last much longer he could stand her neediness.
"You never spend time with me anymore." She whined and pulled on the hem of his shirt trying to pull him back. No. No one try's to restrain him, that was one of his huge peeves. Richard stepped forward, freeing himself from her. He turned to face her.
"You know what Sarah?" Richard started, his face passive. "We're through." He told her grabbing his jacket and book at from the chair. He walked out of his dorm room, not bothering to shut he door. Sarah followed him out into the hallway crying.
"What do you mean?" She sputtered, as people peeked out to watch the scene.
"I want your stuff out when I get back." He told her not looking back. As he continued to class, the guys around him laughed and whispered.
"Damn she just got Gaded." Richard smiled to himself, it took skill to run brought women so fast that the campus came up with a phrase to describe begin duped by him.
He knew the news he was single would spread quickly. Why girls kept coming back when he treated them like crap he would never quite understand. Richard walked into class and brought his stuff down on the first seat he saw. His seat of the day put him next to a girl named Athena. He nodded at her, not really focused on anyone thing.

"Hey Colton where you at, your going to be late." Colton out from underneath the car, he looked up at Jake. "Well if you spent more time working at your shop then going out to party, I wouldn't be here so much." Colton said with a chuckle as he tossed him a rag. Colton stood up slide the automotive creeper to the side. Colton moved over to the table and he pulled off his shirt. "Dame kid what drug you on." Jake said with a grin, Colton looked down at his abs and shook his head. "None retard." He said rolling his eyes. "Dude what happened to my shirt." Colton said looking at it, the shirt had a rip in it and looked like some oil had spilled over it. Colton grabbed his shirt and put it back on. He looked down at it, it was plaid shirt but had some grease stains over it.
Colton switched out his shoes, looked down at his watch. "Man I'm going to be late." Colton said running around looking for his key. "Have you seen my keys they aren't hanging up." Jake laughed. "Man just take the bike." Jake said tossing him the keys to him. Colton caught them, then looked at him weird. "Alright what is the catch." Jake laughed, "Well there this girl I met a couple days ago and she has a friend who went through a break up and I'm think you should go out with her." Colton rolled his eyes and shook his head. "No you know I don't date those one night stands you like to find." Colton said moving toward the door. "Come on man you can just wait for that right one you think you will find, do this for me bro please." Colton moaned and rubbed his face. "Fine just this once but dude last time, I need to leave I'm already going to be late." Colton said running out the door. He jumped on the motorcycle and began his way to the college.
Colton parked the motorcycle, placed the keys in his pocket and tossed the helmet on the back. He made his way up the stairs, most people were in their class. Colton made his way down, he would ignored the girls who would wave at him or try and asked him out. Colton didn't want to seem rude but it was just hard for a relation with work and school and dealing with his drunk friend. Colton stood out by the door, he took a deep breath then walked into the class room. The teacher stopped talking and looked at him. "Late again Mr. Mcleod, if you going to be late every day why show up." Colton rolled his eyes and walked over to a chair and sat down.

Athena reached the classroom in record time, her lungs expanding slowly now as she tried to slow her heart rate. Jogging down the stairs of the classroom, she stopped on her usual row, the seventh one from the front. She really hated her government class, but it was a required class before she could start her Painting classes. So she had to take it against her will, and pass. "Excuse me" she smiled at a few people who were already in their seats as she slid past them to her seat close to the wall. Plopping down onto the gray, dingy, and slightly cushioned chair, she glanced about on the floor, in search of a pencil or some sort of writing utensil. "Damn it," she growled, finding nothing. She glanced up as a person sat next to her, seeing that it was some guy named Richard, the guy who had a reputation for running through so many girls and so little time. "Hey," she sighed, acknowledging his nod with a slight wave of her messy painters hand, going back to looking at the row in front of her, still in search of a pen.

Richard rolled his eyes when the girl spoke to him, grumpy. "Hi." He turned to look at her a fake lazy smile playing on his lips. He let his eyes roam across her body. Not too shabby. Richard acknowledged her, admittedly artsy looking. Which was different, Richard didn't usually favor art chicks. Perhaps a change of scenery was in order.
He saw her searching her pockets for something and noticed her lack of supplies. Richard reached into his back pack and pulled out his book, notebook, and two pens.
"Here we can share." He pushed his book between them and offered a pencil to her. He shot her one of his winning smiles that normally could melt a girls heart.
"Richard." He introduced himself.

She looked up, seeing that he had offered a pencil and paper. She smiled softly, happy she would be able to do something this class. "Awesome, thanks" she sat up, leaned back in her chair and grabbed the pencil from his hand, her fingers lightly brushing his. Athena saw him smile, and gave her his name. She was definitely not going to be another one of those girls who got Gaded. "Athena" she nodded, rolling the pencil between her fingers. Some black from the undried paint on her hand smudged onto the pencil, but she didn't notice. She looked to the professor now, who began to babble on about how some speech was going to be given by the president today, and that they would be watching it. He stood at the front of the classroom, pacing back and forth as he began to talk of how the economy was suffering and how much more it would suffer if the taxes were raised and more jobs were lost. Athena glanced behind her at the door, seeing the professor address someone who was late. She smirked, and leaned towards Richard for a moment, "honestly, why would you come to class if you were already late?" She whispered slightly, shooting a questioning look up at Richard.

Richard grinned at her cold response, so his reputation preceded him. He couldn't help be a smudge proud of his popularity. He coughed to conceal a laugh, God he loved the girls that didn't love him right away. Made it more of a challenge, more exciting when they finally fell and he Gaded them. Richard turned away from the teacher and angled himself towards her. Damn she was interesting. He examined the drying paint on her skin, dark colors, interesting, perhaps he could ask her what she had been painting. Or maybe he could go for teasing, tell her hair was messed up. So many possible ways to flirt, so many skills Richard liked to believe he had mastered them all.
Presidential speech, who cared, it was probably something stupid. Today I got a new dog. Richard mocked it, politics weren't his thing. They didn't really affect him, he was above them. This dog it the future of America, he will be able to- His thought process was cut off when Athena spoke to him. Why'd he come to class?
"Isn't it obvious." Richard acted shocked, as though he couldn't believe someone wouldn't come to class no matter what. "If I didn't come to class than I might not have met you." Richard gave a small smile, laying on the cheese, "And If I had never met you then my life might never be the same." He finished knowing it was a stupid thing to say, but being purposely cheesy sometimes worked....sometimes.

Maris sat towards the front of the room, her pencil scowling across the page in rapid flicks as she jotted down notes into her notebook. She paid total attention to the professor, hanging on his every word. She had been in class ten minutes before hand, while she'd talked to another girl and the teacher about extra credit opportunities. Not because she needed them but because she wanted them. She was that kid who tried the hardest, wanted the highest grade possible, and was beyond competitive about scores.
"McCulloch v. Maryland" Maris said easily adjusting the collar of her pale blue button up shirt and settle back into her seat, proud that the professor had picked her to answer the question and any of the other few hands that had gone up.
When there was a lull in the lesson and the Professor was busy switching papers, Maris looked around. Near her sat a boy who'd come in very late, Colton. She disliked people who were so disreceptable to learning establishes, rules are put in place for a reason and if you're not going to respect them than get out. Her eyes ran over him slowly.
"You're shirt is disgusting." Maris spat, rolled her eyes, and turned back around. "Some people." She muttered under her breath.

Colton laid his backpack on the ground. He pulled out a notebook and a pencil then looked at the teacher talk. He never paid much attention in class he more spend his time paying some kid to write down note for him so he could think more about work. He looked through his page in the notebook and flipped opened to the last page he was working on. He started drawing parts of a car and arrows of everything that need to be done to it. He looked over to the girl who was looking at him. "Well I'm sorry but some people actually work on their spare time." Colton said raising a eyebrow at her then looking down at his shirt. "Some people should be a little less rude." Colton mumbled then looked up at the teacher. He wrote more in his notebook once his was finished his tossed it in his bag then leaned his chair looking down at the desk.

Athena couldn't contain the laugh that burst from her mouth. A few students turned their heads, and the professor glanced up at her, but she didn't care. "You're joking, right?" She managed through her fit of giggles. Her free hand came up to her mouth, as though to suppress her hysteria over him trying to flirt with her in such a cheesy manner. "Oh," she sighed deeply, leaning back in her chair.
Athena really didn't care if she had offended him, he deserved it in her opinion. Hurting so many girls, he needed a taste of his own medicine. "You're a trip," she smiled, pointing her eraser at Richard. The white board suddenly had a large block of blue on its surface, the overhead projector shining its light on it.
"All right now, the president should be beginning his speech soon. Everyone take notes on what he plans on changing. I expect a two paged essay on how his propositions could affect our economy. Due next class" the professor announced, followed by a class-wide groan.
Athena's eyes landed on the white board, a slight groan escaping her own lips. But she rolled her pencil between her fingers, her other hand tapping on her leg. A sharp pain shot through her shoulder blades, like someone punched her in the spine. Athena winced, grinding her teeth. "It'll pass, it'll pass" she muttered, waiting for the pain to subside.

"I'm only joking if you want me to be." He winked, he'd expected the laughs and even enjoyed them. It just ment he could read her better and predict her reaction. He shrugged when she called him trip. "A very cute trip." He countered his eyes already on another girl who sat behind Athena. The girl was making eyes at him, cute he thought giving her a wink as the projector turned on.
He decided he'd humor their professor and takeaway pretend like he was paying attention being he turned his body towards the screen and started imagining what the president was going to talk about. It was all very hush, hush when usually everyone knew days in advance what it would be about. Maybe something had happened in one if the many wars they were involved in.
"You okay?" He asked Athena when he saw her flinch as though in pain. He put a hand on her shoulder, rubbing slightly, for once genuinely caring.

"Hey I'm just saying whats true." Maris rolled her eyes, "And for your information I do work." It wasn't a lie, Maris worked part time, more like quarter time, at a coffee shop on campus. The place wasn't well known and hidden behind the west academic hall, so the crowd was relatively small. Her boss, the owner, was a laid back guy who didn't really mind when Maris showed up for work.
"I'll wash them for you, if it's such a hassle." She offered Colton, but it came off wrong.

"Oh you work." Colton said raising his eye brow. He did believe that she could have a job but it was less likely to be as much work as his job was. He looked up at the teacher tell everyone to take note on what the president had to say. Colton didn't care much so instead he grabbed a paper and started drawing a car. He looked over at the girl. "I would say yes but one I don't have another shirt because my boss got gas and beer all over it and well second I can wash it later tonight." Colton looking back down at his paper, the glanced over at her.

A gasp escaped her lips when he touched her shoulder "don't-!" She breathed through clenched teeth. Athena attempted moving her arm, but when she did it felt as though her arm were out of socket, a look of pain crossing her face again.
Athena had dealt with these daily pains for the past five years. Sometimes, it was just an ache, and other times it felt as though something were lodged between her spine near her shoulders, pushing at her skin. Begging to break free. Today wasn't the worst of the worst, but it definitely wasn't something she could ignore.
