The infected are called Berserkers by the humans, and gifteds.
Humans are the only beings that can be infected with the blue plague, due to the fact that gifteds have different/modified DNA. Nobody knows why though. Humans can contract the Blue Plague by swimming in the ocean, drinking any sort of water that came from the oceans, even if it was purified. The humans can also catch this Plague by being rained on, along with eating saltwater fish and any other sort of animal that consumes those fish.
The only safe water is water in lakes that do not connect to the ocean, and water that was purified before this outbreak. So water bottles in stores are something hard to come by, since some of the humans that are still alive have figured out some of the sources of this Plague. However, since there is a thing called the water cycle, it is has spread to most other places because it has been ten years since the outbreak.
