Still this is a solid and memorable version

The family friends and his lover. One Christmas Eve he is visited by ghosts who show him how his choices will affect his future. While purists will always prefer the Alastair Sim version and kids may be better entertained by The Muppet Christmas Carol this animated offering from director Robert Zemeckis is one of the more compelling adaptations out there. The film uses the same motion capture technique that Zemeckis pioneered with The Polar Express and Beowulf allowing the actors to play multiple roles with a level of realism not seen in other animation.

Jim Carrey is perfect as the miserly Ebenizer Scrooge looking plausibly different at various ages and using his acting skills to portray the spirit of each of the three ghosts that visit him. Gary Oldman and Colin Firth add great support as Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim. The film largely sticks to the Phone Number List original Dickens story sometimes word for word although there are some stray moments that are not needed. The visuals are quite spectacular especially during the ghostly visits and the pacing is brisk. However the addition of some forgettable bouncy musical numbers takes away from some of the drama. of Charles Dickens classic. The Cast Unlike the cutesy Muppet version or Disneys Mickeys Christmas Carol this one features top talent.




It has the late Leslie Bricusse and lyricist John HollandSmith writing a new song for this adaptation along with three others by the great Alan Silvestri that are perfectly blended into the movie. It also features some of the best voice work available led by the brilliant Jim Carrey who provides a variety of performances as Ebenezer Scrooge. He even sings The motion capture animation used in this movie is astounding. From the pimples on a teenagers face to the coins in a corpses eyes it provides an almost believable level of detail. Unfortunately it can make certain scenes frightening.
